CPA

Seward is a member of the NCPAA
The Seward Police Department once again presented the Citizen's Police Academy. The classes began in January and were held once a week for 10 weeks. There were six participants. Various law enforcement topics were presented by members of the department as well as by several guest speakers. The goal of the CPA is to inform citizens of the role of the police in the community, dispel myths and misconceptions from TV and movies, and build a partnership between the department and the citizens. A CPA class is planned for every other year.
2007 Academy Class - Session 1
The Seward Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy completed its first session in the winter of 2007 and graduated 10 participants.
Annual Convention
The National Citizen's Police Academy Association held its annual convention in Anchorage in May 2009. Sgt Valadez earned her "Citizen's Police Academy Certified Coordinator's Certificate" and learned ways to improve our own academy.
