Seward Parks & Recreation Department's ...

Did you know that the City of Seward has over 30 parks, including 4 ballfields, 5 playgrounds, miles of
foot and bike paths, a BMX track, outdoor basketball and tennis courts, flower gardens, pavilions, gazebos,
camping, RV and tent areas, and a hundred picnic tables? Seward has many parklands within our bailiwick,
and we're looking for friends to help keep them protected, clean and safe for everyone's use.

With the completion of the new Community Built Playground on Ballaine, we're especially optimistic for
the continuation of P.A.R.K.S. (Parents Advocating Recreational Kids Stuff) to upkeep the playground,
watch for security and protect and preserve the art. Find out more at their website.

Be a Friend of the Parks! No time commitment is necessary, other than the time you already spend in the
parks, and the time it takes to make a phone call. Just keep your eyes open and give us a call if you see:

bulletvandalism
bulletsafety hazards
bulletlitter
bulletunattended campfires
bulletillegal camping
bulletsuspicious or illegal activity
bulletwild animal activity (bears, moose)

If you're enjoying the parks and notice any of the above, please call our Parks crew at 224.4055.
If we are in the field and unavailable to answer the phone, please leave a detailed message about
the concern. As always, in the event of an emergency or illegal actions, phone the police at either
9-1-1 or 224.3338, which ever is more appropriate.

And in the future, we hope you'll be willing to sign up to be an official "Friends of the Park" by
committing to one or more of the following. If so, request a
"Friend of the Park" application form.
