Seward Parks & Recreation Department's...

Adopt-A-Garden
Sponsors are invited to adopt a flower garden for our short summer season. Your gift of $100 helps to
subsidize the flowers purchase. Sponsors should know, however that it does not fully cover the costs
of the flowers, and we expect to increase the sponsorship again soon. Your donation buys a temporary
sign posted in your garden for the summer.

Some sponsors who make a five-year commitment pay an additional, one-time $100 for a
synthetic, semi-permanent sign in your garden. These are easier to care for, and we feel, more attractive.

Adopt-A-Tree: Centennial Sitka Spruce
There are a select few places we would be able to plant a new tree with an adoption sign or
memorial plaque at the time of planting. Due to Seward's typical soil, we cannot plant just
anywhere. If you are interested in celebrating our Centennial or wish to memorialize a
family member, pioneer or friend, we should discuss site selection.
Your contribution of $550 will pay for:
    * a young Sitka Spruce       * a small semi-permanent memorial
    * top soil       * staff labor for planting

Adopt-A-Tree: (Existing)
We have a handful of spruce trees available for adoption. You will notice these around the
Little League field or in the Adams Street Recreation Area. Your donation of $TBA
covers the cost of the memorial and labor.

Memorials
At times members of the public may wish to memorialize a loved one with a gift to
the community, such as a tree, park bench or picnic table. Contributions or gifts are
appreciated and must be planned to appropriately be placed, used, protected and replaced over time.
Therefore, we created a handbook of ideas folks may review while considering a
gift to the community. The last page of the handbook is a contract outlining the
requirements for a donation. One may obtain a copy of City of Seward's Parks & Recreation
Memorial Guidelines Handbook via mail or the PDF.
