Our Sports & Recreation Division is busy 24/7 with sports leagues, races and special events.
We simply do not have the staff nor the time to coach all the programs. We rely on volunteer
coaches to lend their expert knowledge and skill. We are also happy to provide coaching
and officials clinics to would-be coaches without specific sport knowledge.

Coach Qualities:

	Believes that skill development is above winning (at our youth recreational levels)
	Provides coaching time equally among all kids
	Exhibits good sportsmanship
	Uses appropriate language
	Displays the love of athletics
	Ability to teach sportsmanship
	Ability to follow SPRD's 'Coaches Code of Conduct' Coaching Opportunities:
	Middle School Basketball
	UYBL Youth Basketball     * Grades 4 - 6th (boys & girls)     * Grades 2 & 3 (boys & girls)     * Grades 1 & K (boys & girls)
	Middle School Cheerleading
	Youth Cheerleading
	Indoor Soccer
	Summer Soccer Leagues: (various divisions K - 12th Grade)
	Fall Flag Football (and possibly Junior High Fall Tackle Football) Coaching Qualifications: In addition to the qualities listed above, volunteer coaches will need to walk through the following steps:
	File the Youth Sports Coach Application Form
	Provide three references who will attest to your ability to coach youth sports
	Provide a clean, self-obtained Criminal History record.     (We can help walk you through this process.     It requires the applicant to pay $20 for the record.     If SPRD "hires" you as a volunteer coach, we are happy to reimburse the $20.)
