Seward Parks & Recreation Department's ...


SPRD is fortunate to have grant funds from both ALPAR and the Kenai Peninsula Borough. Together with SPRD, we hire youth crews to clean our city streets and parks. We pick up litter and trash and recycle aluminum and glass. Crew staff must be ages 14 to 17, per grant requirements.

This year, we are honored to join with SeaView Community Services and Kenai Peninsula's Seward Boys & Girls Club to further add to our program. We are offering CareerLaunch ® and environmental education programs to our ALPAR crew members. We have ten hard-working youth and interviewing more teens for the coveted opportunity to learn, grow and serve our community. All partners in this mini-coalition are proud to be providing this new summer program, the brain child of Erika Anger of SeaView. Stay tuned for more updates.

 of Commerce's Fourth of July All America City parade. We won "Best Youth Entry."

Youth ages 14 to 17 are encouraged to apply to become a Litter Patrol Crew Member. The job looks great on your resume. It's a wonderful first job, too. Our teens work about 20 hours per week from June through August. We extend a special thanks to Kim Massey who led the crew well this summer. We appreciate your efforts, ALPAR crew!

If you want to volunteer, but don't need to be paid, you can either participate in our annual Super Saturday Clean Up Day, which is usually the first Saturday in May, or you can call SPRD about adopting an area to pick up litter. We will provide the safety vest and garbage bags. 224.4054
