Friends of SCL
Patrons
You can become a Library Patron with checkout privileges from the library by:
- If you are a local resident who can provide mail addressed to yourself at a local post box you can get a library card at no fee.
- If you are not a resident, you may obtain a temporary library card by paying a $25.00 deposit. When all borrowed materials are returned and outstanding fines are paid, $20.00 of the deposit will be refunded.
Volunteers
SCL welcomes volunteers to help at the library. Volunteers are encouraged in the following areas:
- Storyhour assistance
- Checking that books are in order on shelf
- Shelving books and media
- Sorting and assembling for the Book Sale
- Gardening during summer months
SCL welcomes donations to the library
Books, Videos and other material for the library.
Books donated to the library will be considered by the director for inclusion into the collection. If it is decided that the book will not be put in the collection it will be put in the Book Sale to be sold. All money from the Book Sale goes to the Seward Community Library Association. These funds are used to support library programs and purchasing books and other media.

Please check with the director or the Seward Community Library Association treasurer to learn about planned giving to the library.

Friends of Seward Community Library
The Friends of Seward Community Library are supporters of the programs, policies and practices of the library. The Seward Community Library Association is the Advisory Board elected by the Friends. The Board and the Friends are incorporated and have an approved set of by-laws.

To become a Friend of Seward Library ask for an application at the front desk at the library. Fill out the form and return it to the desk with membership dues.
- Individual annual membership due each April--$10.00
- Family/Business membership due each April--$25.00
One of the many projects the Friends has undertaken is creating access to our many historic photos. We are currently working with The Alaska Virtual Library and Digital Archive project to create access to our collection. This is being done through a grant from the Alaska Humanities Forum.
