Seward Community Library Association hosts a book sale and presents the 1964 Earthquake movie every summer from Memorial Day until Labor Day. These presentations are the major fund raisers for the library. All profits go to buying books and media and supporting the programs of the Seward Community Library.

The movie is shown each day Monday - Saturday (Memorial Day until Labor Day) at 2:00 p.m. The cost is $3.00 per person and children under 12 are free. The show includes a locally produced video, Seward is Burning, with narration of still photographs of the disaster in Seward and a 1965 vintage U.S. Army film entitled The Alaska Earthquake. This film is black and white and details the actions taken shortly after the quake with footage from the hardest hit areas around the state. Viewing both films takes approximately one hour.

The book sale is located in the basement of the library. Books are available to buy during all open hours from Memorial Day until Labor Day.

The bulk of the available books are donated by patrons cleaning out their closets and shelves. A portion may also be materials weeded from library shelves.
